About Howth Free Press

Howth Free Press is an independent publisher based in Howth, Co. Dublin, Ireland. Founded in 2008, the Press was established to publish occasional books, pamphlets and studies exploring subjects of national and local historical and cultural interest. By 2017, it had published several successful titles, many of which have since gone out of print.

The Press has now been revived with a renewed identity and a new publishing programme. Over the coming years, Howth Free Press plans to publish a range of new titles alongside carefully produced reissues of earlier favourites.

In 2026, the Press will publish A Very Political Project: Charles Haughey, Social Partnership and Ireland’s Economic Transformation, 1960 to 2014 by Dr Philip O’Connor. It will also publish a new edition of The Christian Druids: On the Filid or Philosopher Poets of Ireland by John Minahane, first published by Sanas Press in 1993 and reissued by Howth Free Press in 2008.

Howth Free Press welcomes interesting proposals for books, pamphlets and studies of historical, cultural, national and local interest. To discuss a publishing proposal, please contact us through the Contact page.
